Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has a strong overall Medicare rating. RN hours meet the EveryPlace reference benchmark, which is one useful staffing signal to discuss during a visit. Public reviewers frequently mention: highly effective physical and occupational therapy and dedicated and responsive individual staff members. Review the component ratings and current source records before deciding.
Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (often referred to as Aberjona) receives highly polarized feedback, with many families praising the physical and occupational therapy teams while others report severe neglect and staffing shortages. While specific staff members like Kushie Rana and the therapy department are frequently commended for their dedication, multiple reviewers highlight dangerous delays in call-bell response times and inconsistent nursing care. Families should be aware that experiences appear to vary significantly depending on the unit and the specific staff on duty.

Key Review Excerpts
“The nursing staff and aides were very attentive to her needs. Nursing manager Kushie Rana is a gem. Kushie continued to call with updates and personally checked in on mom, sat with mom when needed and ordered special meals.”
“Call bell response times are well over the 7 minute standard- in fact an hour or more is typical. The meals are not nutritious or healthful and consist of chicken nuggets, French fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.”
This facility meets both EveryPlace staffing reference benchmarks. Higher staffing is generally associated with stronger day-to-day care.
Reference benchmarks (0.75 RN and 4.1 total nursing hours per resident/day) are comparison targets, not current federal minimum requirements.
