What this means for your family

Laurel Ridge offers a clean environment and a strong recreation program, which many families appreciate. However, because multiple reviewers have reported serious concerns regarding patient safety, fall prevention, and hygiene, we strongly recommend you observe the facility during off-hours and ask specific questions about their fall-prevention protocols and staffing ratios for your loved one's specific level of care.

Laurel Ridge Center for Health & Rehabilitation receives polarized feedback, with many families praising the compassionate, attentive staff and clean environment, while others report severe concerns regarding neglect and poor communication. While some families highlight successful rehabilitation and end-of-life care, multiple critical reviews describe issues with hygiene, slow response times for basic needs, and questionable medication management. Families should be aware of the stark contrast between the highly satisfied experiences and the serious allegations of neglect.

Key Review Excerpts

The staff was wonderful and always ready to help, not only my mother in law, but the family as well! When my mother in law was in her last moments of life, she was wonderfully taken care of until her final moment and afterwards.

Long-term resident's family · 2016★★★★★

The Dementia Care Coordinator, Jennifer and the Dementia Care Staff are so loving and attentive with my mom. They keep me informed on anything of importance that I need to know.

Memory care family member · 2021☆☆☆☆

My mom went to laurel Ridge after Danbury Hospital from broken hip and my mom fell 2 times and my dad found her on the floor in the bathroom. The nurses are horrible and I had asked about a monitor for the bed if she tries to get up with recovery from her hip and Dementia and they said they couldn’t put any devices that it wasn’t aloud in their facility.

8 complaint-triggered

This facility has concerning patterns including multiple complaint-triggered deficiencies where families filed reports about resident protection from abuse and neglect, care quality, and record-keeping issues. The most recurring problems involve resident protection from abuse/neglect (appearing across multiple surveys), care planning and quality standards, and general quality of life issues. While the facility reports correcting deficiencies, the persistent pattern of abuse protection violations—including recent complaints in 2024-2025—suggests ongoing systemic issues that warrant careful consideration before placement.
