What this means for your family

While the rehabilitation therapy team is frequently praised for their effectiveness, the facility suffers from severe, recurring reports of neglect and slow response times. If you choose this facility, you must be a 'hands-on' advocate who visits daily to monitor hygiene, medication, and call-button responsiveness, as these areas are frequently cited as points of failure.

Bella Terra Elmhurst receives highly polarized feedback, with many families reporting significant concerns regarding neglect, poor communication, and inconsistent staffing levels. While some residents and families praise the physical therapy team and specific staff members for their dedication, others describe a facility struggling with hygiene, slow response times, and inadequate medical oversight. Families considering this facility should be aware of the stark contrast between positive rehabilitation experiences and reports of systemic neglect.

Key Review Excerpts

The kind, supportive staff (from CNAs & nurses, to Physical Therapists & Occupational Therapists) have helped me recover my ability to sit up, stand and walk.

Rehab patient · 2023★★★★★

Every time she rang for a nurse, it was a minimum 45 minutes before anyone showed up . The nurses stations alarms were ALWAYS going off while 3-5 nurses just sat there shooting the breeze.

Long-term resident's family · 2022☆☆☆☆

She is coming home with infected bed sores, which she didn’t have to begin with. She’s Coming home without an air mattress, which I was told by the wound doctor that she needs.

Families have filed multiple complaints, including recent issues with treatment and care, failure to notify families of incidents, and grievance handling. While all deficiencies have correction dates, the pattern of repeated violations in core care areas suggests ongoing quality concerns families should carefully investigate.
