What this means for your family

Westwood Inn offers a beautiful, active environment with strong social programming that many families appreciate. However, given the serious reports of safety incidents and communication gaps in the memory care unit, we strongly advise you to conduct an unannounced visit and specifically ask about their protocols for preventing resident-on-resident altercations and their policy for reporting injuries to families.

Westwood Inn is widely praised for its beautiful, clean, and modern facility, with many families highlighting the warm and attentive care provided by the staff. However, there are serious, recurring reports of safety failures and neglect within the memory care unit, including incidents of patient injuries and poor communication regarding medical emergencies. Families should weigh the positive social environment and amenities against these significant concerns regarding clinical oversight.

Key Review Excerpts

The level of care, the staff and food did not meet what they said they would do for her. Broken mattress which was needed for bed sores, no call button for 3 days, wandering patient coming into her room, terrible injury to her leg.

Memory care family member · 2022☆☆☆☆

My mom was butchered with injuries from the staff. Three horrible wounds, 2 needing ambulance runs, all in one month. Plus so many more injuries! Careless inexperienced help!

Long-term resident's family · 2024☆☆☆☆

My mom was pulled out of her bed on to the floor and dragged out of her room into the hallway by another resident. The supervisor called us to say Mom was found on the floor, but neglected to tell us the truth that she was forcefully dragged out of her room.
