What this means for your family

While the facility is physically beautiful and offers excellent rehabilitation therapy, there is a concerning pattern of reports regarding neglect and slow response times to patient needs. When touring, we strongly recommend asking for a specific plan on how they monitor patient hygiene and how they address staffing shortages on weekends and evenings.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given the facility's size of 280 residents, how do you ensure that each resident receives timely assistance with daily hygiene and restroom needs?
  • 2I noticed the staffing rating is currently lower on the CMS report; what steps are you taking to ensure there is enough staff on the floor to provide consistent, attentive care?
  • 3How do you facilitate communication between the nursing team and the attending physicians to ensure family members are kept in the loop regarding any changes in health status?
  • 4The therapy programs here are highly regarded; how do you integrate those sessions into a resident's daily schedule to ensure they still have time for social activities and engagement?
  • 5Could you walk me through your protocol for handling medical emergencies, especially during evening or weekend hours when staffing levels might fluctuate?
  • 6We've heard positive things about the facility's cleanliness and lobby, but how do you ensure that the quality and consistency of the meals meet the residents' nutritional needs and preferences?

Key Review Excerpts

The 4th floor staff are a mixture of pleasant and horrible. My mother was there for rehab and was neglected most of the time. She would ring the buzzer for help to use the restroom they never came.

Rehab patient's family · 2023★★☆☆☆

My family member received a broken bone as well as a ruptured spleen.. they were constantly ignored because the staff is low. They were severely dehydrated and had bed sores from not being moved appropriately.

Family member · 2026☆☆☆☆

Regal Heights Rehab has very good facilities, excellent medical team (Dr. Ali, in particular), PT and OT (the entire team) are great, very caring nurses and attendants on 7th floor, good quality food, great social workers, helpful recreation team.
