What this means for your family

Mayfair Village offers an excellent rehabilitation program that has helped many residents regain strength, but the facility has a history of serious care inconsistencies. When touring, ask specifically about the nurse-to-patient ratio during night shifts and weekends, and observe how quickly staff respond to call lights. We strongly recommend checking the facility's recent state inspection reports to verify the claims of neglect mentioned by multiple families.

Mayfair Village Nursing Care Center receives polarized feedback, with many families praising the rehabilitation therapy team and specific staff members for their dedication and warmth. However, a significant number of reviewers report serious concerns regarding neglect, hygiene issues, and inconsistent staffing levels, particularly during nights and weekends. Prospective families should weigh the strong therapy outcomes against these recurring reports of inadequate basic care.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given the recent focus on facility cleanliness in your internal reviews, what specific protocols do you have in place to ensure linens are changed promptly and residents receive consistent assistance with daily hygiene?
  • 2I noticed that medication management is a high priority for our family; could you walk us through your current system for preventing errors and ensuring residents receive the correct dosages on time?
  • 3Since staffing levels can fluctuate, what is your plan for maintaining consistent care quality and response times during night and weekend shifts?
  • 4I see that your team is very active in responding to feedback online; how do you incorporate that family input into your daily operations and staff training?
  • 5With your rehabilitation department being a noted strength, how do you integrate those therapy services into the daily routine of long-term residents to keep them active and engaged?
  • 6How does your nursing team communicate with families when there is a change in a resident's health status or an urgent medical situation, especially outside of standard business hours?

Key Review Excerpts

The rehab staff has ways to encourage patients and keep them progressing, and are a delight. Her stay there was a huge success. Her room was mopped, trash emptied and sink and bathroom cleaned multiple times a day.

Long-term resident's family · 2017★★★★★

I wish I could give negative stars. This place is terrible. I was there the beginning of May 2021 and they were so disorganized and incompetent. In my stay there I had a wound vac on my foot, turned off, for 18 hours.

Rehab patient · 2021☆☆☆☆

My mother was here for less than a week. In that week they let her defecate on herself. Did not give her any of her medications. Resulting in her sugar to go very low.
