Key Review Excerpts

The facilities and activities are outstanding, and the food service is quite good. Very dedicated and caring staff members though a bit of turnover probably because of work hours and wage structures.

Long-term resident's family · 2018★★★★★

The Mather took my grandma’s money, gave her an apartment, brought her in to discuss renovations to her unit... A few weeks prior to her move-in date, The Mather called to say they’re not accepting her after all.

Prospective resident's family · 2020☆☆☆☆

She has had a few minor accidents and they have no first aid. If a resident or family member contacts the concierge, they will call an ambulance and take the resident to the emergency room. So my mother never asks for help. They also have never notified me or any of my siblings when she has gone to the emergency room.

4deficiencies
Well below state avg (12.0)

The Mather Evanston shows recurring issues with fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, and electrical systems across all three surveys, indicating persistent infrastructure challenges. Multiple deficiencies involving sprinkler systems, fire alarms, emergency power, and elevator controls have repeated from 2023 through 2025, suggesting ongoing compliance struggles. While all violations were reportedly corrected, the pattern of repeated identical deficiencies raises concerns about the facility's ability to maintain safety standards long-term.
