What this means for your family

While Chapin Home is visually impressive and maintains high standards for cleanliness and security, the recent surge in reports regarding patient neglect and poor communication is concerning. If you are considering this facility, we strongly recommend conducting unannounced visits during off-hours and weekends to verify the level of responsiveness and care provided when management is less visible.

Chapin Home for the Aging receives high praise for its cleanliness, welcoming atmosphere, and professional security and nursing staff. However, a significant number of recent reviews highlight severe concerns regarding neglect, slow response times, and poor communication from administrative and nursing staff. Families should carefully weigh the facility's aesthetic appeal and friendly front-desk service against these serious reports of inconsistent patient care.

Key Review Excerpts

The staff are truly wonderful, kind, respectful, and always willing to engage in friendly conversation during our visit. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy, making it a comforting place for our elderly loved ones.

Memory care family member · 2025★★★★★

My dad was admitted here for 17 days for short-term rehabilitation due to diminishing ability to walk because of his terminal illness. Immediately from the get-go, we noticed a lot of issues. When he would poop, they would leave him in his poop for 1-2 hours and not change him.

Rehab patient's family · 2026☆☆☆☆

The place is always clean no bad odors and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have been nothing but patient and caring with both my Aunt and now Mom. The administration is always available to talk with and answer any questions I may have!!!

1 complaint-triggered

Chapin Home has 18 deficiencies across three surveys, with one complaint filed by families regarding accident prevention and supervision. The most recurring issues involve fire safety systems, medication management, and nursing services oversight. While the facility has corrected most deficiencies when identified, the pattern of fire safety violations across multiple surveys and a family complaint about resident safety warrant careful consideration during your visit.
