What this means for your family

While the facility is physically modern and offers strong physical therapy, the recurring reports of severe communication failures and night-shift understaffing are significant red flags. If you consider this facility, demand a clear, written plan for how the facility will communicate status updates to your family and ensure you have a direct contact for off-hours emergencies.

Avondale Estates of Elgin receives highly polarized feedback, with some families praising the facility as clean and modern with excellent physical therapy, while others report severe neglect and communication failures. Recurring complaints highlight significant issues with understaffing, particularly at night, and a persistent inability for families to reach administrative or nursing staff for updates. Prospective families should be aware of the stark contrast between the positive experiences of some rehab patients and the alarming reports of medical oversight and neglect from others.

Key Review Excerpts

The problem is that you CAN NOT get anyone to call you back. If you leave a message for the nursing staff they will never get back to you. The Administrative staff is no better.

Hospice family member · 2024☆☆☆☆

The nurses were incredible and some of their assistants were okay.. Their therapist were very helpful and friendly but they work on their management instructions to keep you there for as long as your insurance is good!!!

Rehab patient · 2025★★☆☆☆

I have to say that my time there was not great but it wasn't terrible the people that work there especially for one CNA Mariah she really cared for all her patients she deserves a raise.
