What this means for your family

Amherst Manor is frequently praised for its high-quality therapy services and clean, modern environment, particularly in the memory care unit. However, families should be aware of a recurring pattern of understaffing that leads to delayed responses to call lights and inconsistent patient care. We strongly recommend visiting during off-hours to observe staffing levels and asking management specifically how they handle communication between departments.

Amherst Manor receives polarized feedback, with many families praising the facility's physical environment and the effectiveness of its rehabilitation therapy team. However, significant concerns persist regarding chronic understaffing, slow response times to call lights, and inconsistent communication between departments. While some residents report compassionate care, others have documented serious lapses in safety and basic hygiene.

Key Review Excerpts

They don’t give medications on a regular schedule. The chairs are gross, stained, worn out and broken. The IV stands are disgusting and have slimy stuff all over them.

Rehab patient family · 2025☆☆☆☆

The employees on Willow Care are like a family. Its so nice to be able to get to know everyone on a first name basis. If I have a concern or issue, there is always someone to help resolve it.

Memory care family member · 2024★★★★★

They have a hall that has 3 stories. I was visiting on the 2nd floor. The entire walk through 1st & 2nd floors smelled of stale human waste. It smells permeated in the carpets and fills the air.

This facility shows concerning patterns with repeated fire safety and resident rights violations across multiple surveys, though all deficiencies have correction dates. Fire safety issues including sprinkler systems, alarm systems, and emergency lighting appear persistently from 2019 through 2025, alongside recurring problems with resident rights and accommodating individual needs. One complaint-triggered inspection occurred when families reported concerns about resident rights. The facility consistently corrects violations but struggles with preventing their recurrence.
