What this means for your family

While American Village offers a beautiful campus and effective rehab services, the recurring reports of severe understaffing and medication management errors are major red flags. If you choose this facility, we strongly advise visiting unannounced on a weekend to observe staffing levels for yourself and ensuring you have a clear, documented plan for medication oversight.

American Village presents a stark contrast between its physical campus, which is widely praised as beautiful and well-maintained, and its clinical care, which faces severe allegations. While some families report positive experiences with rehab and admissions staff, multiple reviewers have documented critical failures in medical care, including medication errors, neglect of basic hygiene, and chronic understaffing. Families considering this facility should be aware of significant inconsistencies in care quality, particularly during weekends and within the healthcare/memory care units.

Key Review Excerpts

If you want to get an accurate view of American Village, go on the weekend. The regular workers are normally off and the weekend workers are awful.

Long-term resident's family · 2019★★★☆☆

The care and condtions are horrible in the health care section. My uncle has had to be treated for bedsores has fallen out of the bed twice. Had e coli from leaving the catheter in too long.

Long-term resident's family · 2019☆☆☆☆

I placed my Dad (75 years old with severe Dementia) here in 7/23 for a 10 day respite stay and it was horrible. The issues experienced: Twice daily medications: Dad said no meds some days, some days once, also not crushed and no Apple sauce on most days.
