What this means for your family

This facility's rehab therapy department is frequently praised, making it a potential option for short-term recovery. However, families must be aware of significant, recurring reports of understaffing and poor communication. We strongly recommend visiting in person to observe the cleanliness of the rooms and asking management directly about their current staffing ratios and response protocols for call bells.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given the strong reputation of your physical and occupational therapy teams, how do you ensure that progress made in rehab is consistently supported by nursing staff throughout the rest of the day?
  • 2I noticed that response times to call bells are a common concern for families; what specific protocols or technology do you have in place to ensure residents receive timely assistance?
  • 3Communication is very important to our family; what is the best way for us to reach the clinical team for updates, and how do you handle after-hours inquiries?
  • 4We read that cleanliness has been a challenge for some; could you walk us through your current housekeeping schedule and how you maintain sanitary standards in resident rooms?
  • 5Regarding medication management, what oversight processes are in place to ensure that prescriptions are administered accurately and on schedule?
  • 6Since you have a smaller community of 60 residents, what kind of daily social activities or engagement programs are available to keep residents active and connected?

Key Review Excerpts

The staff and the therapist PT and everyone was just amazing with my mom. My mom does have an outgoing personality. But also can be a little impatient at times, but they were amazing with her throughout this whole journey.

Long-term resident's family · 2024★★★★★

The room was filthy! The dust on the curtains was as thick as a nickle. If I were asthmatic I'd have had an attack. There was blood on the call bell that wasn't mine and no matter how much I complained nothing was done.

Rehab patient · 2024☆☆☆☆

My mom just came home after 2 months at Chestnut where, between my sister and me, we were there a total of 9-10 hours a day. Care from the aids was minimal, sometimes bordering on neglect. Both the doctor and the nurse were dismissive about our concern that our mom had a UTI.
