What this means for your family

The Lakeland Center has a highly dedicated activities and therapy team that can provide a great quality of life for residents. However, families must be aware of the recurring reports of weekend staffing shortages and communication barriers; we strongly advise visiting on a weekend to observe staffing levels firsthand before making a decision.

Google Reviews

The Lakeland Center receives highly polarized feedback, with a significant number of recent 5-star reviews praising the facility's cleanliness, updated therapy gym, and specific staff members like Larry in Social Work and the Activities Department. Conversely, multiple families report serious concerns regarding chronic understaffing, neglect, poor communication, and hygiene issues, particularly on weekends and specific units. Families considering this facility should be aware of the stark contrast between the positive experiences of some and the reports of neglect from others.

Key Review Excerpts

My aunt has been here and we are desperately trying to get her out. She's being neglected and her friends and family have been lied to. We've all had to step in and care for her instead of those paid to do it.

Family member · 2022☆☆☆☆

I’m going to start with it doesn’t have that smell. I can’t handle the foul smells at most care facilities. I could give it a 6th star for that.

Family member · 2023★★★★★

They do not have minimum aides and nurses working on any day but especially the weekend. I have taken pictures. If there is a fire or other emergency there is not sufficient staffing to get patients out of the building.
