What this means for your family

While some rehab patients report positive interactions with specific staff, the recurring reports of unsanitary conditions and theft are highly concerning. Before choosing this facility, we strongly recommend conducting an unannounced visit to inspect the cleanliness of the rooms and asking management directly about their protocols for securing resident property and maintaining hygiene standards.

Key Review Excerpts

The care takers/nurses are patient and compassionate with the residents. I want to say that the greatest gift that the staff is giving to the residents is 'Kindness', which I have witness first hand.

Long-term resident's family · 2022☆☆☆☆

Everything gets stolen. I have never seen a place like this before in my life. It’s disgusting and the entire place smells like pee. We have packed our own swiffer wet jet for when we see him, so that we can wash his floor.

Saugus Center has struggled with serious recurring issues across multiple areas, with families filing complaint reports that triggered investigations into medication errors, wound care problems, and abuse prevention failures. The facility shows persistent problems with care planning, medication management, and quality of care despite corrections being made after each survey. While all 82 deficiencies across five surveys have correction dates, the pattern of repeated violations in core care areas suggests ongoing systemic challenges that families should carefully consider.
