What this means for your family

Wellmore offers an exceptional lifestyle program and dining experience that many residents truly enjoy. However, given the recurring reports of medication errors and slow response times, we strongly advise families to conduct unannounced visits and specifically ask for the current staff-to-resident ratio in the unit your loved one will occupy. Ensure you have a clear plan for medical oversight, as some families have found communication regarding health transitions to be lacking.

Wellmore of Lexington is a high-end senior living community that receives significant praise for its beautiful campus, engaging activity programs, and high-quality dining services. However, families should be aware of a recurring pattern of complaints regarding inconsistent staffing levels, communication lapses during medical transitions, and occasional failures in medication management. While many residents and their families report a thriving, supportive environment, others have expressed serious concerns about the quality of care in the rehab and memory care units.

Key Review Excerpts

My father in law came here three years ago. He first started out in skilled nursing and moved his way up to Assisted Living where he spent the rest of his days. The Administration, the nursing station, the dining room, the housekeeping were excellent in their services.

Memory care family member · 2024★★★★★

Mom called and and said, 'This is Hellmore.' Fortunately she doesn't have a significant memory impairment, so she's been able to tell me about the multiple occasions when she hasn't gotten any of her medication including PRN Tylenol. She was told to push her call button, but no one responds.

Assisted living family member · 2025★★☆☆☆

Wellmore has been a huge blessing to our family. The many transitions of getting older don't tend to give you important dates ahead of time to put on your calendar... we are thankful for God's mercy over my mom and the consistent kindness that she has been shown by the entire staff at Wellmore.

Families filed a complaint that triggered findings about medication management, which has been the most persistent problem area alongside food safety across multiple surveys. The facility has faced repeated issues with medication errors, drug labeling, and food handling, though most deficiencies have been corrected. While nursing care and infection control problems from 2022 appear resolved, the ongoing medication and dietary concerns warrant careful discussion during visits.
