What this means for your family

While the rehabilitation therapy team is highly regarded, the facility has a concerning pattern of reports regarding neglect and poor responsiveness to basic patient needs. Before choosing this facility, we strongly recommend conducting an unannounced visit and asking specifically about their protocols for call-button response times and medication safety oversight.

Jesse Helms Nursing Center receives highly polarized feedback, with some families praising the facility as clean and professional while others report severe neglect and unprofessional conduct. Critical concerns frequently involve slow response times for basic hygiene needs, medication errors, and a perceived lack of empathy from administrative staff. Families should weigh the positive reports of rehabilitation therapy against the repeated accounts of poor communication and inadequate patient care.

Key Review Excerpts

The nurses & aids that she had were absolutely HORRIBLE!! My mother in law was a fall risk so she couldn't get up to use the bathroom without help... When "help" arrived all they did was turn off the call button and then proceeded to tell her to defecate in her depend.

Family member of resident · 2025☆☆☆☆

Julian, Peter, Bradley and Andrew were all amazing therapists and if we could have brought them home with us, we would have.

Family member of rehab patient · 2026★★☆☆☆

My Dad was there...gave Jim to much medication at one time...almost killed him.
