What this means for your family

Given the high volume of reports regarding patient neglect, unsanitary conditions, and communication failures, this facility carries significant risks. If you must consider this location, perform an unannounced visit to check the cleanliness of the rooms and observe staff-to-resident interactions, and ensure you have a direct line of contact with a specific supervisor rather than relying on the general phone line.

The Gardens at West Shore faces severe and recurring criticism regarding patient neglect, poor communication, and unsanitary conditions. While a subset of reviews praises specific staff members and the therapy team, these positive experiences are heavily outweighed by reports of residents suffering from untreated wounds, lack of hygiene, and unresponsive administration. Families considering this facility should be aware of the consistent pattern of complaints regarding basic care standards and difficulty reaching staff by phone.

Key Review Excerpts

My uncle had to be put in here for a TBI therapy and they left him fall several times smashing his head over and over. Food is nasty and unsanitary, never showered him, bedbugs.

Family member · 2023☆☆☆☆

My 93 year old mother was transferred there from UMPC for Rehab only, after having her leg amputated below the knee. She never recieved one minute of rehabilitation services while at The Gardens at West Shore.
