What this means for your family

This facility has a dedicated recreation and social work team, but families should be extremely cautious regarding clinical care. Before choosing this facility, ask for a written policy on call-light response times and verify how they handle medication management for off-hours. We strongly recommend visiting during a weekend or evening to observe staffing levels firsthand.

Fairfax Rehabilitation and Nursing Center presents a highly polarized experience for families. While many reviewers praise the admissions team, social workers, and specific nursing staff for their kindness and dedication, a significant number of families report severe neglect, including unresponsiveness to call lights, poor hygiene, and medication management errors. The facility is currently undergoing renovations, which some see as a positive sign of improvement, while others cite it as a source of unsanitary conditions and noise.

Key Review Excerpts

My husband has dementia and is housed on the fourth floor. He receives wonderful care. The staff is loving and kind to both my husband and my family when we visit. His caregiver, Marvalee, is like an angel.

Memory care family member · 2022★★★★★

The facility is old and was run down, but it had a high staff to patient ratio and care was good. Then it sold and it is now awful. My mother would go a week without a shower, she would essentially be taken out of bed, put in her wheel chair and left there all day.

Long-term resident's family · 2023☆☆☆☆

Dad admitted to Fairfax Hospital from FRNC - had stage 3 wound (bed sore from neglect) and was CDiff +. Fairfax County Police called after my dad reported to staff the next morning that he was 'put in a headlock' by staff.
