What this means for your family

While Altenheim features a highly regarded rehab therapy team and several standout staff members, the facility suffers from systemic issues regarding call light response and weekend staffing. Families should conduct a thorough tour, specifically asking about weekend staffing ratios and how the facility handles hygiene and pest control, as these are recurring points of failure.

Key Review Excerpts

My recent outstanding good stay ar Altenheim Living Center Rehab facility of cable caregivers and medical staff was a direct result of the dedication of Michelle Tejera and Rochelle Little.

Rehab patient · 2024★★★★★

My mom was left sitting on the toilet for 30 min. Before being helped. I received a call one day from a nurse saying that the staff forgot she was there. She was not checked on all night until. 11 I am the next day.. No food, no meds, no bathroom time.

Long-term resident's family · 2021☆☆☆☆

The care there is atrocious. There are mice and ants in her room. The house keeping might come once a week if that. The care she received on weekdays in great, Ashley is awesome. But the weekend staff totally stinks.

Both RN and total nursing hours are below national benchmarks. This can mean less clinical attention per resident, so ask about their staffing plan.

Altenheim has faced recurring fire safety and electrical system violations across multiple surveys, with repeated issues involving emergency exits, smoke barriers, and power systems that appear annually from 2023-2025. Families have filed complaints leading to five deficiencies involving medication management, wound care, pest control, and medical records. While all violations show correction dates, the persistent pattern of fire safety problems and complaint-driven issues in medication handling warrant careful evaluation during visits.
