What this means for your family

While the rehab unit is frequently praised for its therapy team and friendly staff, the long-term care side has significant, recurring issues with cleanliness and pest control. We strongly recommend touring the specific unit where your loved one would reside and asking management directly about their current pest control contract and staffing ratios for the night shift.

White Oak Manor - Rock Hill presents a stark contrast between its updated, well-regarded rehabilitation unit and its older long-term care sections. While many families praise the nursing and therapy staff for being attentive and caring, others report critical failures in patient safety, hygiene, and communication. Prospective families should be aware of recurring complaints regarding facility cleanliness, specifically pest issues and room maintenance, as well as concerns about inconsistent staffing levels.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 2With the recent staffing ratings in mind, what is your current process for ensuring residents receive timely assistance when they press their call lights?
  • 3I’ve read some mixed feedback about the dining experience; what steps are you taking to improve the quality and temperature of the meals served to residents?
  • 4Communication is very important to our family; what is the best way for us to stay in touch with the administrative and social services teams regarding our loved one's care?

Key Review Excerpts

My Dad had Parkinson's Disease and was using a feeding tube. Medically, the staff knew he couldn't eat or drink anything. My Dad was left alone in his room, he vomited and aspirated the vomit. No one checked on my Dad to address this issue and I found him in his room myself.

Memory care family member · 2024☆☆☆☆

The long term care staff at the facility are caring, supportive and nurturing. With that said, my uncle's bathroom is disgusting; it's definitely not sufficiently clean. I rarely see housekeeping taking care of the long term care facility, especially in comparison to the rehab side.

Long-term resident's family · 2022★★★★★

They are obviously short staffed. I hope they are smart enough to pay more to service employees and care for the workers they have so they will stay.
