What this means for your family

While some families report a positive, long-term relationship with the facility, there are serious, recurring reports of neglect regarding basic hygiene and slow response times. When touring, we strongly recommend asking for a detailed plan on how the facility ensures timely responses to call lights and how they manage communication with families during medical emergencies.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given that communication is a top priority for our family, what is your standard process for updating families on health status changes or upcoming medical appointments?
  • 2I noticed that response times to call lights can sometimes be a challenge in larger facilities; what protocols do you have in place to ensure residents receive timely assistance when they need it?
  • 3With 154 residents, how do you manage staffing levels across the different wards to ensure that every resident receives consistent, personalized attention throughout the day?
  • 4Since we value the social aspect of care, could you walk us through the daily activity schedule and how you encourage residents to participate and engage with one another?
  • 5I see that the facility is well-maintained and clean, which is great; how do you handle the dining experience and meal quality to ensure it meets the nutritional and personal preferences of the residents?
  • 6In the event of a medical emergency, what is your immediate procedure for stabilizing a resident and how quickly are family members typically notified?

Key Review Excerpts

They denied a bath to my grandma , it Wasn’t only one time it was multiple occasions they denied to give her a bath. She needed a bath every day because she has a skin condition because of her cancer treatments ….They left her to sit in her bed needing to use the bathroom for 4 HOURS… after calling multiple times for help!!

Grandchild of resident · 2022☆☆☆☆

The staff is pleasant enough but there are not enough nurses per ward. Because of this, they don't call back as they should, to concerned family members and with detailed enough information, that would ordinarily keep fanilies aware of the status of the loved one.

Family member · 2021☆☆☆☆

My mom is nearly their “longest” resident, yet. We have seen them at their best and worst. She has been at two other “homes” in CENLA but TCC is definitely our fave. They have a great team and have gone out of their way to take good care and meet many of her special requests.

Families have filed 9 complaints triggering federal inspections, with serious concerns about resident protection from abuse and neglect appearing multiple times. While all deficiencies show correction dates, the pattern of repeated problems in core care areas and frequent complaints suggests ongoing quality challenges families should investigate thoroughly.
