What this means for your family

While the facility has a strong rehabilitation team and some very compassionate individual nurses, the recent trend of reports regarding clinical neglect and poor medication management is concerning. If you choose this facility, ensure you have a plan for frequent, unannounced visits to monitor your loved one's hygiene and hydration, and be prepared to advocate strongly for their medical needs.

The Greens at Hickory receives highly polarized feedback, with many families praising the compassionate nursing and therapy staff, while others report serious concerns regarding neglect, poor communication, and facility maintenance. While some families feel their loved ones received excellent care, multiple reports of bedsores, dehydration, and medication errors suggest significant inconsistencies in clinical oversight. Families should be aware that while the staff is often described as warm, the facility's physical condition is frequently noted as aging and in need of updates.

Key Review Excerpts

The physical therapy was great, but the rest of the facility was horrible. Including management!! Im still waiting to have a conversation with management, that has not happened.

Long-term resident's family · 2024☆☆☆☆

They did not move him, did not give him his therapy. He received bed sores while he was there which he has never had before. He went there to get better and came out worse.

Long-term resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

The facility is old, needs maintenance inside and outside both. The only complaint I have is meals. My mother is a pesco-pollotarian... This facility offers 2 choices of meals: regular and ovo lacto.

The Greens at Hickory has faced multiple complaints from families in recent years, with recurring issues in medication management, respiratory care, and infection control appearing across several surveys. The most recent 2026 inspection triggered by complaints found problems with medication error rates, resident dignity, and food service quality that are currently under correction plans.
