The following deficiencies were found during the on-site compliance inspection and investigation of complaint AZ00216146 conducted on November 14, 2024:

When medication is stored by an assisted living facility, a manager shall ensure that:R9-10-816.F.1Corrected Nov 27, 2024

Based on observation and interview, the manager failed to ensure that medication was stored in a separate locked room, closet, cabinet, or self-contained unit used only for medication storage. Findings include: 1. During a tour of the facility the Compliance Officers observed a room used for storing medications. The room was equipped with a door which had a locking handle requiring a key to lock or unlock the handle. However, the lock was not engaged and the Compliance Officer was able to enter the room. Inside, the Compliance Officer observed numerous cabinets, each equipped with locking mechanisms operated by a key. However, none of the locks were engaged and the Compliance Officer was able to open each cabinet. Inside the cabinets were plastic storage bins containing various medications prescribed to residents in the facility. 2. In an interview, E2 advised the door to the medication storage room was usually locked and acknowledged the door should have been locked. 3. In an interview, E1 agreed the medications in the room had not been stored in a separate locked room or cabinet the facility uses for medication storage.

Based on this deficiency-free compliance inspection, the Department shall not conduct a compliance inspection for twenty-four months, according to A.R.S. \'a7 36-425(E). Subsection (E) does not prohibit the Department from enforcing licensing requirements as authorized by A.R.S. \'a7 36-424.
