What this means for your family

Shannondell is an excellent choice for active, independent seniors who value high-end amenities and social engagement. However, families seeking rehabilitation or skilled nursing care should exercise extreme caution; multiple reviewers have reported significant lapses in medical communication and patient safety. We strongly recommend vetting the rehab wing separately from the independent living community.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given the beautiful auditorium and social spaces here, what does a typical week of activities look like for residents who are in the rehab wing?
  • 2We understand that medical emergencies can be stressful; could you walk us through your specific protocol for updating families when a resident’s health status changes?
  • 3With the rehab services being a core part of your facility, how do you ensure consistent communication between the nursing team and the therapy staff regarding a resident's daily progress?
  • 4We have heard great things about your front-desk and security team, but could you explain how your nursing staff manages medication administration to ensure accuracy and safety?
  • 5Considering the high-end resort feel of the campus, what is included in the monthly cost, and are there any additional fees we should anticipate for specialized nursing care?
  • 6Since your staffing ratings are high, how do you maintain that level of consistency and oversight during shift changes to ensure residents receive prompt attention?

Key Review Excerpts

My husband was transferred to Shannondell Valley Forge from the hospital for what we were told was 6 days of in patient 'rehab'. Out of the 6 days, he received 2 hrs of rehab---none provided on weekends, none on departure day.

Rehab patient's spouse · 2022☆☆☆☆

My mother broke her hip on 3/28/26 and Shannondell DID NOT CONTACT ANY OF HER FAMILY MEMBERS that she was taken to the hospital!

Resident's family member · 2026☆☆☆☆

Don’t be fooled by the nice facade, there is nothing of substance behind it.
