What this means for your family

While the facility offers an excellent activities program and strong rehab therapy, the recurring reports of slow call-button response times and medication management errors are serious red flags. If you choose this facility, it is essential to have a family member visit frequently to oversee personal care and ensure communication with the nursing staff remains active.

NHC HealthCare, Maryland Heights presents a highly polarized experience for families, with some praising the facility as a 'gem' with dedicated staff and engaging activities, while others report severe neglect and communication failures. Recurring criticisms focus on slow response times to call buttons, inconsistent medication administration, and poor hygiene, particularly in the rehab and long-term care wings. Key Review Excerpts

The therapy staff showed genuine dedication to my dad during his short-term rehab at NHC Maryland Heights. When he entered, he was very immobile due to a spinal cord injury. His physical therapist successfully trained him and his caregiver (my mom) on methods for helping him transfer between a wheelchair and a bed.

Rehab patient's family · 2026★★★☆☆

The activities coordinator has activities all day every day. My dad did not have a lack of things to do. The outside grounds are nice as well just to get fresh air or have a visit if the weather is nice.

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★★★

Call nurse button answers in about 20 minutes and may or may not help depending on who answers . They just make sure to turn off the light.
