Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed that your team is very active in responding to online feedback; how do you use that family input to improve the day-to-day experience for residents?
  • 2With a 3-star health inspection rating, could you walk me through the specific steps the facility has taken recently to address those regulatory findings?
  • 3I’ve read that your nursing staff is highly regarded for being attentive; how do you ensure that same level of clear, consistent communication when families call in with questions?
  • 4Since food quality is such a big part of feeling at home, what is the process for residents to provide feedback on the menu or request specific dietary preferences?
  • 5Given your strong staffing rating, how does your team balance providing high-quality medical care with fostering a warm, social atmosphere during daily activities?
  • 6In the event of a medical emergency or a sudden change in health status, what is the standard protocol for notifying and updating family members?

Key Review Excerpts

My husband couldn't walk or use his arms very well after getting sepsis due to a blocked kidney. The staff I give high praises. Everyone from the admittance to housekeepers and everyone in between are very professional and friendly. In 3 weeks the OT and PTs have managed to give my husband some independence and confidence to make great strides.

Long-term resident's family · 2023★★★★★

My MIL lived there for almost 8 years, so I feel like part of the staff there. They have always greeted me by name and treated me with respect. I think it’s the best elderly care facility we have in Vicksburg.

Long-term resident's family · 2024★★★★★

Food could be a little better but when asked they strive to help. (My sister needed Ensure/Boost drinks to up calories). We will use again and recommend this facility to others.

Heritage House shows a pattern of corrected deficiencies across multiple care areas, with the most recent survey in March 2024 identifying nine issues that were subsequently addressed. The facility has had recurring problems with care planning and quality standards, infection control, and resident rights protections. While all deficiencies have correction dates, the 2024 survey's scope suggests ongoing operational challenges that families should discuss during visits.
