What this means for your family

Hathorne Hill is an excellent choice for those prioritizing a clean, modern environment and high-quality physical therapy. However, families should be aware of inconsistent staffing levels; we strongly recommend visiting during off-hours and asking specifically about response times to call bells and how the facility manages patients who require high levels of assistance.

Hathorne Hill is frequently praised for its modern, clean, and non-clinical environment, with many families highlighting the effectiveness of the physical therapy team and the kindness of the nursing staff. However, a recurring pattern of negative reviews points to significant issues with understaffing, particularly regarding slow response times to call bells and difficulties in reaching nursing stations by phone. While many families report excellent experiences, others describe instances of neglect and poor communication that suggest inconsistent care quality.

  • 1I noticed your team is very active in responding to online feedback; how do you use that communication to improve the daily experience for residents?
  • 2Given that staffing levels can fluctuate, what is your specific protocol for ensuring call bells are answered promptly, especially during evening or weekend shifts?
  • 3Could you walk me through how your team coordinates care for residents who require higher levels of daily assistance or specialized memory support?
  • 4I’ve heard great things about your therapy programs, but could you tell me more about the dining experience and how you handle dietary preferences or meal quality concerns?
  • 5What steps does the nursing staff take to ensure consistent communication with families when they are trying to reach the facility by phone?
  • 6How do you balance your strong security and visitor intake process with ensuring residents have a vibrant, social daily life and access to activities?

Key Review Excerpts

The physical therapy and occupational therapy teams—including Curtis, Kristen, Erin, Stephanie, David, Michael Charles Barry, Glow, and Kylie have been absolutely incredible.

Memory care family member · 2025★★★★★

The nurses are wonderful!! The facility is newer and clean. The overall care is another story. My 94 year old mother in law had hip surgery and was brought to this facility. They have lost her teeth bridge not once but twice, blaming her both times.

Long-term resident's family · 2023★★☆☆☆

My dad was a patient twice at Hathorne several years ago and had a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, more recently he was there April and May (2025) and there was a vast difference in the level of care he received. First of all, it was IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone on the phone at the nurse's station when calling.
