What this means for your family

While Blue Heron offers a beautiful environment and excellent rehabilitation therapy, the recurring reports of neglect and poor weekend staffing are serious red flags. If you consider this facility, we strongly recommend visiting on a weekend to observe staffing levels firsthand and asking management for a concrete plan on how they handle medication administration and communication with families.

Blue Heron Health and Rehabilitation is a visually impressive, resort-style facility that receives high praise for its modern amenities, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, families frequently report significant inconsistencies in care, particularly regarding weekend staffing levels, communication lapses, and medication management. While many residents and families have positive experiences, there is a recurring pattern of neglect and poor responsiveness that potential families should carefully investigate.

Key Review Excerpts

My husband was In blue heron for rehab after a stroke. The place is beautiful and clean but they neglect the patients. The CNA are very lazy and spend more time chit chatting than taking care of the patients.

Rehab patient's spouse · 2023☆☆☆☆

They failed to give him his medicine one evening which is a problem because he has Parkinson's and is dependent on timely medication. Several times they attempted to give him the wrong dose of medication despite his meds being clearly annotated in his chart.

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★☆☆☆

I am always impressed by how many events and activities they have daily. They even hosted a prom outfitted with a red carpet and sourced 80s prom dresses for the women.
