What this means for your family

Birchwood Care Center has a strong reputation for a warm, family-like environment and dedicated memory care, making it a potentially good fit for residents needing consistent, compassionate daily attention. However, families should be aware of recurring complaints regarding administrative communication and responsiveness. Key Review Excerpts

I’ve been extremely impressed with the professionalism and the commitment to providing loving and quality care at Birchwood. Our mother has been there in the memory ward since mid-June and has been cared for under sometimes difficult and challenging circumstances because of her dementia.

Memory care family member · 2024★★★★★

Overall I feel that they did an extremely good job in the area of day to day care, but also that they would often drop the ball when I felt there was a health care problem. They never got problems solved quickly! Ever!

Long-term resident's family · 2019☆☆☆☆

The medical staff is ok, just ok. The management is abhorrent. Beware!!! Do your research. They have sent the police to my house three times for No apparent reason.

Clean record — no deficiencies

Birchwood Care Center has 32 deficiencies across three surveys, primarily involving fire safety systems, medication management, and resident care quality. Most concerning are recurring issues with sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and fire alarms that persist across multiple inspections from 2019 to 2025. While the facility has correction plans for all violations, the pattern of repeated safety deficiencies suggests ongoing compliance challenges that families should discuss during visits.
