What this means for your family

This facility's strong rehab therapy team and clean environment make it a potential choice for short-term recovery. However, families should be highly cautious regarding long-term placement, especially for residents with dementia. We strongly recommend visiting during off-hours (evenings/weekends) to observe actual staffing levels and response times, as these are the most frequently cited points of failure.

Atlas Rehabilitation and Healthcare at Maywood receives polarized feedback, with many families praising the facility's cleanliness, friendly staff, and effective physical therapy programs. However, a significant number of reviewers report serious concerns regarding neglect, slow response times for basic assistance, and poor communication, particularly during nights and weekends. Families should be aware that while many have had excellent experiences, there is a consistent pattern of complaints regarding understaffing and quality of care for residents with higher needs.

  • 2Since the therapy programs are a known strength here, how do you coordinate with the nursing staff to ensure therapy goals are supported throughout the rest of the day?
  • 3What specific protocols are in place to ensure timely assistance with hygiene and call bells during the night shifts and over the weekends?
  • 4Could you tell me more about the specialized care and environment provided for residents with dementia or higher-acuity needs?

Key Review Excerpts

My dad went to Atlas apprehensively after a stay at Kessler i cannot express how grateful we are for the amazing care he received there for 3 months. They were efficient, kind and caring and i would definitely recommend this place to others.

Long-term resident's family · 2023☆☆☆☆

The facility itself appears poorly maintained, with outdated and cheap patient room equipment and an overall lack of basic medical attention. Physical therapy was never prescribed. A simple urine analysis was never collected.

Family member of resident · 2026☆☆☆☆

I am leaving Atlas today after a month of healing after open heart surgery. I can not thank these people enough for the wonderful care. Jay my aide was one of the most conscientious hard working, kind and respectful people I have met.
