What this means for your family

This facility has a dedicated core of staff and a strong rehab team that many families appreciate. However, because multiple reviewers have reported critical lapses in hygiene and response times, we strongly advise you to visit unannounced during evening or weekend hours to observe staffing levels and response times for yourself.

Venice Health and Rehabilitation Center receives highly polarized feedback, with many families praising the dedicated nursing staff and effective rehab therapy, while others report severe concerns regarding neglect and poor communication. While some reviewers highlight a clean, friendly environment, a significant number of negative reports describe issues with call-light response times, hygiene, and inadequate medical oversight. Families considering this facility should be aware of the stark contrast between the positive experiences of some residents and the critical allegations of neglect reported by others.

Key Review Excerpts

The nursing staff, PT and OT staff , CNA’s , social service dept., housekeeping ALL were attentive to the needs of both our family member and our extended family.

Long-term resident's family · 2026★★★★★

The staff are willing to help and the nurses really got to know the patients and their needs. The admissions director made sure to check on us regularly.

Rehab patient family · 2026★★★★

My mother was recently a patient here for about 2.5 weeks and that was 2.5 weeks too long. She was originally transferred here from the hospital for physical therapy due to a longstanding spinal condition that had flared up causing severe pain. The same day we got her out of this rehab facility she was admitted to the ICU that evening, as a result of the lack of care she received.

Families have filed complaint reports against this facility, including serious concerns about resident abuse and safety hazards that resulted in harm-level violations. The most recurring issues involve resident assessments and care planning, medication management, and overall quality of care including accident prevention. While all documented deficiencies show correction dates, the pattern of complaint-triggered violations and repeated safety concerns across multiple surveys suggests ongoing challenges with fundamental care standards that families should carefully evaluate during visits.
