What this means for your family

Madonna Manor offers a beautiful campus and excellent independent living and rehab therapy, making it a strong candidate for those specific needs. However, families considering skilled nursing should be extremely cautious; multiple reports of neglect and hygiene issues suggest you must be prepared to provide daily oversight and advocacy for your loved one.

Madonna Manor presents a stark divide in experiences, with high praise for its independent living and rehab therapy services, contrasted by severe, recurring complaints regarding skilled nursing care. Families frequently report significant neglect in basic hygiene, medication delays, and chronic understaffing in the nursing units. While the campus is described as beautiful and well-maintained, the inconsistency in care quality for high-need residents is a major point of concern.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given that the campus is so beautiful and well-maintained, how do you ensure that the same level of attention to detail is applied to the daily hygiene and personal care routines of residents in the skilled nursing wing?
  • 2I noticed that your therapy teams are highly regarded; how do you coordinate their work with the nursing staff to ensure that medication administration and recovery schedules remain consistent throughout the day?
  • 3With some families expressing concerns about response times to call lights, what specific protocols or staffing adjustments are currently in place to ensure residents receive timely assistance when they need it?
  • 4I see that you are active in responding to feedback online; how do you use that input to improve the quality of meal services and the dining experience for those in skilled nursing?
  • 5Since your independent living community is so vibrant, what opportunities are there for residents in skilled nursing to participate in those social activities or interact with the broader campus community?
  • 6Could you walk me through your current process for medication management and how you verify that dosages are administered accurately and on schedule for residents with complex needs?

Key Review Excerpts

My grandmother who was bed bound was at Madonna Manor. I’m not sure about the other departments where she was is absolutely horrible. It was so bad I had to purchase an Alexa so I could see my grandmother when we weren’t there with her.

Memory care family member · 2024☆☆☆☆

He has been there almost 1 year. We are not happy with his care there. We pay 15k a month and I clean his room and do most of his personal care. He was found today with a saturated bed and clothing unchanged for 5 days.

Long-term resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

The staff provided amazing care and encouraged her to work towards her goals. My mother-in-law had a lot of complicated illnesses that eventually took her life, but staff were communicative, compassionate, and collaborated with outside providers.
