What this means for your family

While the facility has a strong history of community support and an active activities program, recent years have seen serious allegations regarding patient neglect and staffing shortages. We strongly advise families to conduct unannounced visits and ask specifically about the current nurse-to-patient ratios and how the facility handles communication with families during health crises.

While many reviewers from 2019 praise the facility for its compassionate staff and clean environment, recent reviews from 2021 onwards frequently cite concerns regarding neglect, poor communication, and inadequate patient care. Families considering this facility should be aware of the significant discrepancy between the historical positive feedback and more recent reports of staffing issues and hygiene concerns.

Key Review Excerpts

The staff of Kenwood loved my father during his last years. My father was treated like a best friend to everyone I met there; from the Director to the volunteer, and that's the truth.

Memory care family member · 2026★★★★★

My mother was there for only 19 days and passed away the day after she was released to come home. The clothes my mom had in a bag from UK, Kenwood said they washed them then could not find them.

Long-term resident's family · 2022☆☆☆☆

She had hip surgery and was sent there for rehab two days later. Before going she was able to eat by herself but it took her a while to eat. She was 98 lbs and in two weeks he pulled her out. She was 78 lbs. She wouldn't eat. No one had worked with her as far as rehab what so ever.
