What this means for your family

Hickory House is frequently praised for its clean environment and effective rehabilitation therapy. However, families should be aware of a consistent pattern of complaints regarding weekend staffing and responsiveness. We strongly recommend visiting on a weekend to observe staffing levels firsthand and asking management specifically about their protocols for patient hygiene and communication during off-hours.

Key Review Excerpts

The staff are fantastic! They really are loving people who treat each patient like family. My mother-in-law has been moved to a few different wings and every care giver has been wonderful.

Long-term resident's family · 2024★★★★★

The staff that we interacted with yesterday were the best that I have met since my sister has been a resident there @ Hickory House. Even my sister was happier yesterday. Too bad the other staff we’ve met were not as welcoming and attentive.

Resident's family · 2026★★★★

A few years ago I would say that my parent had a great experience however this time its wasn't that great. Both my parents were patients there at different times and things were great and highly recommended... However this last stay my parent had was ridiculous. They dropped my parent out of the bed when helping them into bed at night, only gave them 1 shower in 2 weeks, and took their meal tray early with rude comments.

This facility has recurring issues with fire safety systems and care quality that persist across multiple surveys. The most frequent problems involve fire safety deficiencies (smoke barriers, sprinkler systems, fire alarms), treatment and care quality, and respiratory care. One family filed a complaint about inadequate treatment care. While all deficiencies show correction dates, the repeated citations for similar safety and care issues across four surveys suggest ongoing compliance challenges that warrant careful consideration.
