What this means for your family

This facility is an excellent choice for physical rehabilitation due to its highly-rated therapy team and modern equipment. However, if your loved one requires high-acuity nursing care, you must verify current staffing levels, as multiple families have reported issues with hygiene and medication administration during shifts.

Families considering Colonial Manor will find a facility praised for its beautiful, modern, and clean building and an exceptional physical therapy team. However, there are significant and recurring reports of understaffing, which some reviewers claim leads to neglected hygiene, missed medications, and slow response times to call lights.

The owner relies heavily on repetitive, templated scripts for positive reviews, often using identical phrasing across different feedback. While they attempt to address negative reviews by providing contact information or citing privacy regulations, the responses lack genuine personalization.

Key Review Excerpts

I have been in rehabilitation facilities through out the (RGV)Rio Grande Valley. There has been many lows and great highs in all of the facilities. It all begins with staff of people with great minds and even bigger hearts. I would have to say that my experience at Colonial Manor gave me the trust in humanity again.

Rehab patient · 2026★★★★

They never gave my parent their meds including insulin throughout her stay. I had a nurse rush me to sign a list of those meds which I thought was odd come to find out from my parent and reviewing the camera footage they never gave those very important meds.

Long-term resident's family · 2023☆☆☆☆

The building itself is beautiful. The design that went in to that place is amazing. But that is where the good stops. The staff is horrible from the cna to the top.

$71,122 in fines

This facility has a concerning pattern of repeated violations, with 23 of 45 deficiencies triggered by family complaints spanning from 2022 to 2026. The most persistent problems involve infection control (cited 7 times), accident prevention and safety (cited 5 times), and abuse/neglect reporting (cited 5 times). While all deficiencies show correction dates, the recurring nature of safety and infection control issues, combined with multiple abuse-related violations reported by families, suggests systemic challenges that warrant careful consideration before placement.
