What this means for your family

This facility has a strong rehab department that many families find beneficial for recovery, but the consistency of daily care is a major concern. Before choosing this facility, we strongly recommend you visit in person to observe response times to call lights and specifically ask management how they handle communication with out-of-state family members.

Google Reviews

Google Reviews

93 reviews on Google
Aviata at Santa Barbara (formerly Coral Trace) receives highly polarized reviews, with experiences ranging from exceptional care to severe neglect. While some families praise the therapy department and specific staff members for their kindness and professionalism, a significant number of reviewers report critical issues with communication, hygiene, and delayed response times to call lights. Potential families should be aware of the stark inconsistency in care quality and the recurring reports of staffing challenges.

Key Review Excerpts

My mother was placed here after a hospitalization. Terrible experience. Communication was non existent. We never got an update on her treatment that had started at the hospital.

Rehab patient's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

The therapy program is very good. The night nursing staff is a 2 out of 5 stars. They dont give your medications on time which throws your bodies schedule off and the next day you try to catch up with your pain.

Rehab patient · 2025★★☆☆☆

From the moment my mom arrived, she was attended to medically. She came from back to back hospitalizations with a negative experience at a different physical therapy center that did not put interest in her care.

This facility has concerning patterns, including families filing complaints that led to citations for abuse/neglect issues and inadequate treatment care. The most recurring problems involve resident safety and accident prevention, medication management, and administrative compliance. While most deficiencies show correction dates, a recent abuse-related citation from January 2026 has no correction plan, and safety issues have persisted across multiple surveys, suggesting ongoing challenges with maintaining consistent care standards.
