What this means for your family

The Pines is well-regarded for its clean environment and active social calendar, making it a good fit for residents who value engagement. However, families should be proactive about monitoring care needs, as multiple reviewers have highlighted slow response times for call buttons and potential issues with room comfort. We recommend asking management specifically about their current nurse-to-patient ratios and how they handle non-emergency assistance requests.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed the facility has a robust activities calendar; could you walk me through what a typical week of engagement looks like for a new resident?
  • 2Given that some families have mentioned occasional delays in call-light response times, what is the current process for ensuring staff are alerted and available when a resident needs immediate assistance?
  • 3The facility has a 4-star CMS staffing rating, but I’d love to hear how you manage staffing levels to ensure consistent care during peak hours or shift changes.
  • 4I understand dining is an important part of daily life; what steps are you taking to improve the quality and variety of the meals served in the dining room?
  • 5Since communication is a priority for our family, what is the best way for us to stay in the loop regarding our loved one's health updates and daily well-being?
  • 6Regarding the room amenities, are there options to personalize the space or upgrade the furniture to ensure our loved one feels as comfortable and at home as possible?

Key Review Excerpts

My mom Donna Kelly had pancreatic cancer & came home from tn to olean to see her sisters. Unfortunately she became very I'll & was admitted to the pines & passed there. Highly recommend this facility! Staff was sooo wonderful to her & us through this difficult time.

Memory care family member · 2019★★★★★

My grandmother is living here now and they take good care of her. They have events for her to attend daily, every room has a window, and there is lots of space to sit or walk outside. Everytime I visit, her room is clean. The nurses always seem very busy so you might need to be patient if you need to ask them something.

Long-term resident's family · 2019★★★★

Not a good system for when residents need help. Once help button is pushed it takes as long as 20 minutes. If an emergency, staff would never know.
