Based on observations made during the tour of the building, the facility failed to keep medications in an out-of-sight place in a resident room when the resident has been deemed capable of self-administering the medication. EVIDENCE: 1. The LI observed resident# 1 to have the door propped open and the room unoccupied. The following medications were observed sitting in the room in a container on a table beside a chair in the middle of the room: Delsym cough syrup, Top Care Cough Drops, Bio Freeze, Gas X, Rolaids Advanced, Refresh Lubricant eye drops, Latanoprost, Dorzolamide, Refresh Tears, and Difluprednato. Resident #1 had physician?s orders for all the above medications which documented she was able to self-administer and keep at bedside. 2. This facility does serve population of cognitively impaired residents; these medications should not be in plain sight.
