What this means for your family

While many families report a welcoming admissions process and kind individual staff members, there are recurring, serious reports of neglect regarding hygiene and medication administration. When touring, we strongly recommend observing the response times on the floor and asking specifically about the facility's protocol for ensuring residents are bathed and changed on a consistent schedule.

Picayune Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center receives highly polarized feedback, with many families praising the admissions process and individual staff members like Loretta for their compassion. However, there are serious, recurring reports of neglect, including residents being left in soiled bedding for extended periods, medication delays, and significant understaffing. Families should weigh the warm, family-oriented atmosphere reported by some against the critical concerns regarding basic hygiene and responsiveness.

Key Review Excerpts

I don't know about the entire staff, but Ms. Loretta is all you need to know about Picayune Rehab. I have never met anyone as kind, passionate, and dedicated to the health and success of patients.

Family member · 2025★★★★★

This place in horrible they left my mother in her own urine for hours. She never have a full mug of ice water, dirty, the staff talks about the patients and there family in a negative way, thus nursing home has a theft problem going on administrators all tells lies.

Family member · 2023☆☆☆☆

I’ve been to a lot of nursing homes in my 21 years and some of them new and fancy and some that are not so new and fancy but I always take the time to look at how the staff interacts with the patients who live there. As I walked down the halls, several staff members greeted me and smiled.

Families have filed complaints triggering recent inspections, including serious concerns about abuse protection and incident reporting that were previously corrected. The facility shows recurring problems with resident rights accommodation (found in all three surveys), care planning, and infection control. While most deficiencies appear corrected with planned correction dates, the pattern of repeated violations in resident rights and the complaint-driven abuse-related findings warrant careful consideration during visits.
