Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given the current staffing levels, what specific protocols are in place to ensure that residents receive timely assistance with hygiene and daily personal care?
  • 2How does your management team handle communication with families when concerns arise, and what is the expected turnaround time for a response?
  • 3I noticed the facility has a 5-star CMS rating but a 2-star staffing rating; how do you ensure that the quality of care remains high despite the current staffing ratios?
  • 4What steps are currently being taken to maintain the cleanliness of the facility and ensure that rooms are sanitized consistently throughout the day?
  • 5Since physical therapy is a noted strength here, could you explain how your therapy team coordinates with the nursing staff to support a resident's daily recovery goals?
  • 6In the event of a medical emergency, what is the exact process for notifying family members and ensuring they are kept updated on the resident's status?

Key Review Excerpts

I went up on multiple evening shifts to find 1 aid to about 20 patients sitting in the hallway with a child under the age of 2 instead of seeing about the residents!

Rehab patient's family · 2026☆☆☆☆

They would never bath her had to ask multiple times for them to help her shower and they would argue that it wasn’t her day to shower. Could never get in touch with nursing staff, Dr, NP, or management staff would call multiple times a day and would never get a phone call back.

Rehab patient's family · 2024☆☆☆☆

Physical therapist taught me how to walk after a bought with multiple/myeloma. I’m living in an assisted living setting now and will go back to Pelican Pointe again if necessary.

Families have filed multiple complaint reports triggering investigations, with recurring issues in nursing staff competency, care planning, and resident rights protections. The facility shows a pattern of deficiencies across six surveys spanning 2023-2024, including problems with abuse reporting, infection control, and medication services.
