What this means for your family

This facility is highly regarded for its cleanliness and dedicated nursing staff, making it a strong option for short-term rehab. However, families should be vigilant regarding call-button response times and dietary adherence; we recommend visiting frequently to ensure your loved one's specific needs are being met, especially if they transition to long-term care.

Northampton Post Acute receives high praise for its cleanliness and the dedication of specific nursing staff, particularly a nurse named Lulu who is frequently cited for her compassionate care. However, families report significant concerns regarding inconsistent response times for call buttons, poor food quality, and occasional lapses in medical management or communication during transitions to long-term care. While many patients have successful rehab experiences, others have reported serious safety incidents and neglect.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed some families have mentioned challenges with call button response times; what is your current protocol for ensuring residents receive timely assistance when they need it?
  • 2With the dining experience being an area you are looking to improve, could you walk me through how you handle specific dietary requirements and how residents can provide feedback on their meals?
  • 3Given that medication management is a priority, what systems do you have in place to ensure accuracy and prevent errors during the daily administration process?
  • 4How does your team ensure consistent, high-quality care for long-term residents, especially during shift changes or busier times of the day?
  • 5I saw that you have a very active therapy department; what kind of daily social or recreational activities are available to help residents stay engaged outside of their therapy sessions?
  • 6In the event of a medical emergency or a sudden change in a resident's health, what is your process for communicating updates and care plans to the family?

Key Review Excerpts

The nursing staff is very attentive and the highlight of Mom's day is her visits from Lulu. She always has a great story to tell and makes my Mom laugh which does her soul good.

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★★★★

My mother did great here in short term but they moved her to long term and since then she has become an invalid!!!! She used to be able to get around with a walker now they stopped physical therapy and she is in a wheelchair at all times.

Long-term resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

I would like to thank the entire team of caregivers at this rehab facility especially Junette and Tracy who went above the call of duty. They took real good care of me.

1 complaint-triggered

Northampton Post Acute has ongoing concerns with quality of care across multiple surveys, with families filing at least one complaint about food service. The facility shows persistent issues in three main areas: quality of care (including mobility, incontinence care, and nutrition), dietary services (food safety and accommodation of preferences), and fire safety systems. While all deficiencies have correction dates, the pattern suggests systemic challenges that warrant careful evaluation during visits.
