What this means for your family

While many families report a warm, community-oriented environment, there are serious, recurring reports of neglect regarding hygiene and nursing responsiveness. When touring, we strongly recommend asking for a detailed plan on how the facility ensures call lights are answered promptly and how they maintain consistent hygiene standards for residents who require assistance.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1Given the facility's focus on community, what specific social events or activities are planned for this month that encourage residents to interact with one another?
  • 2I noticed the staffing rating is lower than the overall facility rating; could you explain how you ensure consistent, personalized attention for each resident during shift changes?
  • 3How does your nursing team coordinate with families to ensure that personal hygiene needs and clothing preferences are consistently met throughout the day?
  • 4What is your standard protocol for communicating updates or concerns to family members, and who is the primary point of contact if we have questions about daily care?
  • 5Since medication management is a critical part of health, could you walk us through the process for how medications are administered and tracked to ensure accuracy?
  • 6With the recent focus on rehabilitation services, how do you integrate those therapy goals into the resident's daily routine to help them maintain their independence?

Key Review Excerpts

Sadly disappointed in the way close relative was treated here by the night shift. Didn't have his meds, the room was dark, he fell trying to go to the toilet because nobody answered his page, didn't care enough to learn his name.

Long-term resident's family · 2019☆☆☆☆

My mom was at Lafayette Pointe until her end of life. I want to express my appreciation for the attention the staff and administration gave not only to my mom but to my family.

1 complaint-triggered

This facility shows a concerning pattern with infection control deficiencies appearing across multiple surveys, including one recent complaint-triggered citation from families who filed reports. The most recurring issues involve infection control, fire safety systems, and care quality problems. While all deficiencies show correction dates, the repeated infection control violations and recent complaint suggest ongoing challenges with maintaining consistent standards that families should carefully evaluate during visits.
