What this means for your family

This facility has a strong rehabilitation team that many patients find effective for recovery. However, the recurring reports of slow response times and poor communication regarding medical care are significant red flags. If you choose this facility, ensure you have a family member present frequently to advocate for your loved one's needs and monitor their care.

FT LAUDERDALE HEALTH & REHABILITATION CENTER (The Savoy) receives highly polarized feedback. Many families praise the facility for its friendly, attentive nursing staff and effective rehabilitation programs, while a significant number of critical reviews allege severe neglect, poor communication, and hygiene issues such as mold and pests. Potential families should be aware of the stark contrast between the positive experiences of some and the reports of understaffing and administrative failures from others.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed your team is very active in responding to online feedback; how do you use that family input to improve daily communication regarding a resident's medical status and discharge planning?
  • 2With the physical therapy program being a noted strength here, how do you ensure that progress is clearly communicated to families during the recovery process?
  • 3I see you have a 4-star staffing rating, but I’d love to hear how you manage call light response times to ensure residents feel attended to promptly throughout the day and night.
  • 4What specific protocols are in place to maintain the cleanliness of the facility and address environmental concerns like odors or pests to ensure a comfortable living space?
  • 5Given the importance of social engagement, could you walk me through a few examples of the activities that residents seem to enjoy most here?
  • 6What is your process for coordinating care and medication management to ensure that residents receive their treatments accurately and on schedule?

Key Review Excerpts

Mgmt here really needs to figure out how to not leave residents waiting an hour or more when they hit the call light to go to the bathroom etc. that is not acceptable and it's everyday all-day.

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★★★
