What this means for your family

This facility's physical therapy team is frequently cited as a major strength, making it a potential option for short-term rehab. However, the recurring, serious reports of neglect and understaffing, particularly in memory care and on weekends, are major red flags. If you choose this facility, you must be prepared to visit frequently and advocate daily for your loved one's basic needs.

Emerald Nursing & Rehab Lancaster presents a highly polarized experience for families. While many reviewers praise the physical therapy team and individual staff members for their kindness, a significant number of reports highlight severe neglect, including issues with hygiene, medication management, and understaffing. Families should be prepared to be highly involved advocates, as the quality of care appears to vary significantly depending on the unit and shift.

Key Review Excerpts

The only good staff at the home is the physical rehab employees. They even go beyond their duties to help because place is so under staffed!

Family member · 2024☆☆☆☆

Well... Overall it's not the worst, if you are available effectively 24/7 to advocate on behalf of your loved one. Definitely one of the places where you need to be a squeaky wheel, and constantly.

Family member · 2024★★★☆☆

The PT , OT people are good , dedicated. Therapy is helpfull. Nursing very short staffed.

This facility has concerning patterns with families frequently filing complaints that trigger inspections. Recurring issues include accident prevention and safety supervision, infection control, and food safety, with these same problems appearing repeatedly across multiple surveys since 2023. While the facility corrects deficiencies when cited, the persistence of safety and infection control violations suggests ongoing operational challenges that families should carefully evaluate before choosing this facility.
