Calder Woods offers impressive amenities and a beautiful environment for rehabilitation and independent living. However, if you are seeking memory care, you must investigate their security protocols closely due to a documented elopement incident, and verify staffing levels to ensure your loved one receives consistent attention.

Calder Woods is highly regarded by many for its beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and high-quality rehabilitation services. However, families should be extremely cautious regarding the memory care unit due to a reported security breach involving an elopement, as well as serious allegations of neglect and understaffing in certain areas.

Key Review Excerpts

My 93yr old mom stayed in Building N for 2 weeks for rehab due to a broken hip and dislocated shoulder. I stayed with her the entire time, going home a couple of hours a day. So, I saw her care during all shifts. I can honestly say we didn't meet one employee that wasn't kind and helpful.

Rehab patient's family · 2022★★★★★

The facility is gorgeous, well-maintained and beautifully decorated. The staff AND residents are truly kind and caring. Great food and activities too!

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★★★★

Within two weeks, he had already climbed a fence and ran off. The only reason he was found was because a nurse was leaving her shift for the day and found him hiding behind a tree. The memory care facility is NOT secure enough for individuals who are at risk for elopement.
