What this means for your family

While the facility offers a warm environment and engaging activities, the recent reports of neglect and staffing shortages are concerning. We strongly recommend that you conduct an unannounced visit during a weekend or evening to observe staffing levels firsthand and ask management specifically how they handle residents who require in-room care.

Brookdale Stanwood receives highly polarized feedback, with recent reviews highlighting a stark contrast between a welcoming, home-like atmosphere and severe failures in basic care. Key Review Excerpts

Brookdale is not a place for anyone who needs assistance beyond meals in the dining room. My mother was unable to leave her room for 3 days. She called for meal delivery to her room. The meals were delivered and stacked on the table, left untouched, for 3 days.

Assisted living resident's family · 2026☆☆☆☆

The food is absolute garbage, equal to or worse than hospital food- "fresh" fruit is a cup of canned fruit, grilled cheese is cheap fake cheese on cheap white bread, everything highly processed and unhealthy.

Assisted living resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

The staff truly care about the residents and go out of their way to create a warm, supportive environment. Communication is excellent, and it’s clear that the people working there take pride in what they do.
