What this means for your family

This facility appears to be a viable option for short-term physical rehabilitation, as evidenced by recent positive feedback from rehab patients. However, families of long-term residents should exercise extreme caution and perform frequent, unannounced visits, as there is a recurring pattern of reports regarding neglect, poor communication, and inadequate staffing.

Birch Healthcare Center receives highly polarized feedback, with many reviewers praising the physical therapy and nursing staff during short-term rehab stays, while others report severe neglect and communication failures. Families of long-term residents frequently express concerns regarding basic hygiene, staffing shortages, and a lack of responsiveness to medical needs. Potential families should be aware of the stark contrast between the positive experiences of some rehab patients and the distressing accounts of neglect reported by others.

Key Review Excerpts

The entire process from before she even arrived, to when she left went smoothly. I called to see if I could come in to see the facility before saying yes to Birch. We said yes because walking through and observing staff with the patients there without them knowing I was watching interactions, was all I needed to see.
