What this means for your family

While many families report excellent experiences with the therapy and memory care teams, there are recurring, serious allegations regarding facility cleanliness and patient neglect. We strongly recommend that you conduct an unannounced visit to inspect the cleanliness of the rooms and ask management specifically about their protocols for end-of-life care and hospice communication.

Betz Nursing Home receives polarized feedback, with many families praising the compassionate staff and effective rehab services, while others report serious concerns regarding neglect and poor facility maintenance. While some families describe the environment as warm and caring, others have documented distressing experiences involving inadequate end-of-life care, hygiene issues, and unprofessional administrative communication. Key Review Excerpts

Therapy, cnas, and nurses gave him excellent care. When he could be in a wheelchair, he was moved to the Cottage where he continued to receive excellent care.

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★★★★

I concur with most people, my dad's room was filthy and the food was terrible. But that's not the worse part of my dad's stay....this place took him off hospice without telling anyone, which I think should be against the law.

Long-term resident's family · 2023☆☆☆☆

I have both my mom and my stepmom in the memory care unit. Kendall Sizemore overseas everybody and make sure everyone is taken care of. She even receives phone calls and text in the middle of the night when needed.

This facility shows ongoing fire safety concerns with repeated violations across multiple surveys, including blocked exits, faulty smoke doors, and electrical problems that persist from 2023 through 2025. Other issues include medication labeling problems (one triggered by a family complaint), patient privacy breaches, and food safety violations. While all deficiencies were reportedly corrected, the pattern of recurring fire safety violations suggests families should inquire about current safety measures during any visit.
