What this means for your family

While the facility's small size allows for personalized attention from specific staff members, the recurring reports of neglect, hygiene issues, and missing personal property are significant red flags. We strongly recommend conducting an unannounced visit to check for cleanliness and speaking directly with current residents' families to verify if the quality of care meets your standards.

Aviata at the Sea - Harbor Beach presents a highly polarized environment where experiences range from life-saving care to severe neglect. While many residents and families praise the facility's small, intimate size and the personalized attention provided by specific staff members like Brenda, others report alarming issues including poor hygiene, medical mismanagement, and the loss of personal property. Key Review Excerpts

The care at Harbor Beach is extremely good. Harbor Beach has approximately 58 beds which is much smaller then most typical nursing homes, which created more of a family atmosphere and very easy to establish personal relationships when calling about your loved one.

Long-term resident's family · 2022★★★★★

It is a small facility, not a large one, where the workers get overtaxed and overworked; here, it is so different; there is much more personalized attention.

Long-term resident · 2025★★★★★

My mother was needing two very specific medications I was assured as was the hospital that she would get the medicine she needed as well as the services because she has been bed bound. After 4 days in the facility they still did not have the antibiotics putting her a great risk for the infection to grow.
