What this means for your family

While the facility offers a beautiful environment and engaging activities, the recurring reports of severe understaffing on weekends and lapses in basic hygiene are significant red flags. If you are considering this facility, we strongly recommend visiting unannounced on a weekend to observe staffing levels and cleanliness for yourself, and asking direct questions about their current staff-to-resident ratios.

Addington Place of Clarkston 2 presents a polarized experience for families, with many praising the facility's warm atmosphere and dedicated individual staff members. However, frequent reports of understaffing, particularly on weekends, and significant lapses in basic hygiene and resident care suggest inconsistent service quality. Families should be aware that while some residents thrive, others have encountered serious issues regarding medical oversight and responsiveness.

Key Review Excerpts

The first wknd my mom moved in she was having anxiety with the transition. Nurse/aides administered sedative pharmaceuticals without our (guardian) permission.

Memory care family member · 2021☆☆☆☆

Weekends are the worst, short staffed or agency people and lack of care. They did have some Excellent staff members... but the past Director Tina was terrible.

Long-term resident's family · 2026★★★☆☆

One day, my niece came to visit and found a bag of feces sitting in the middle of the floor of my mom‘s room. The staff acted like it was no big deal and as if they knew nothing about it.
